Tired of paying too much for bills?

My husband and I have recently been looking at our finances, which is SO not fun for me, but he is a wealth management adviser so it’s his job to look at where our money is going and what we are saving. Thank goodness for him!

I noticed that our electricity bills were skyrocketing this summer (it has been one of the hottest summers on record here) and was frustrated. A friend of mine told me about Power to Choose (www.powertochoose.org) where you can go in and look at what the best options are for your electricity providers. She also told me about Energy Ogre (www.energyogre.com) where you pay a flat $10/month for their services and they find the best deals for you, set up your account, and manage your bill pay. You do have to submit you SSN for this one, but for me, it was worth it! I signed up because based on our household energy usage and what we were paying a month (15 cents/kw) we could save $2300 a year! Did you know that you shouldn’t be paying more than 9 cents/kw?! Well, if you can learn anything from this post, it’s to pay attention to your electric bill and check how much your provider is charging you!

Ok, now on to Our cable, internet, and cell phone bills. These 3 combined, we were paying just over $500/month!!!!! Yikes! So, every 12 months, it pays off to call your provider and ask for any specials, deals, or loyalty rewards they can help you to lower your bill. I was on the phone with our provider for cable and internet for 20 minutes, and was able to save us almost $850/year! Without changing any of our channels or speed/quality.

While on the phone with them, they told me we could check with my husbands HR to see if they offer discounts for cell phones! Which, they do! So…..we are now saving almost $3500/year in bills without changing anything at all!

Now….of to the mall so I can shop! 🤣
