SAINTS OF JUNE WAS BORN OVER A BOTTLE OF WINE.

Recently we met Kate Ward on the Historic McKinney Square in downtown McKinney, TX for a super fun photo shoot! Let us set the stage! Out pops this perfectly blonde bobbed mama wearing her “Love Mother Earth” sweatshirt and cool wedge snake sneakers…..a little hippy….a lot of polish. She is the perfect balance of coifed cool. Chan and I had the best time with Kate shooting, laughing, and hanging out with this pretty lady….just some fabulous girl time! It is exactly what you feel when you wear her Saints of June designs.

A little backstory…
I (Kate) met Kate Ward many years ago when I was pregnant with my first son. At the time, I was substitute teaching in a church school, and Kate Ward’s children attended the same school. She owned a company called Kate Ward Photography, and it was an easy choice to hire Kate to take our baby photos…..and again for family photos….and again for newborn photos for my second.

Flash forward several years…
…and take into account that you never know where God will lead you in life. While enjoying a glass of wine one day with her husband, Kate Ward began discussing the pressures endured by women — the responsibilities, the being stretched-too-thin, the pressure to perform….what’s that term we use? Oh yeah….”mom guilt!” And the expectation that we should still look pulled together in the middle of it all! Right then and there (with wine glass in hand:)) she started sketching and putting a new dream on paper. It just flowed out of her like the wine in her glass….(whatever bottle this was, we all need a little piece of it!:)) Never in a million years did Kate think she would be designing beautiful pieces, but she felt God’s pull so Saints of June was born!
