Skiing is such a fun family activity and certainly one my husband and I love to do together. Now, I would be lying if I told you that I have the same dedication to it that he does. His perfect ski day is to pack a lunch and a water bottle…now it has to fit into one of his jacket compartments or it is a no go. He wants to be up and ready to go so he is one of the first ones on the mountain…honestly this is THE BEST snow!! Then he skis until lunch and likes to eat his sandwich on one of the longer ski lifts up the mountain so he is finished in just the right amount of time to be ready to ski again when he arrives. And then he goes hard for the second half of the day and tries to perfectly time things so that he is one of the VERY LAST ones off of the slopes that night. AND I’m exhausted just writing about it! Haha!
My ski style tends to be more of being willing to be up and going with him, but when lunch rolls around, I think it is so fun to stop and have a casual, chill lunch at the restaurant at the top of the slope where I can sit and enjoy the view! Then, I think it is super fun to have a few more runs after lunch, stop for a hot cocoa break, take in a few more ski runs, and then make my way down the mountain to chill for a bit before showering and heading to a restaurant for a great glass of wine and a delicious, hearty meal!
So, you see our challenge?! Haha! We try to compromise when we can and ski together mostly in the mornings. He usually leaves me at some point for a bowl on the back of the mountain where I stress and pray for no avalanches until I see him again. Why does he have to mess up my good flow of the day??? 🙂
And now queue kids into the equation….this definitely changed things for us a few years ago when we took our boys skiing with my husband’s family. My oldest, Anders, was 5 so we plopped him in ski school….and he loved it…mostly! 🙂 And while he was in ski school, we took our youngest, Liam, who was 2 years old at the time down the mountain skiing between our knees. That was super fun! He loved it, and it meant more casual skiing which was a win for me…hahaha! And don’t worry, my husband eventually even got in his bowl run, but thankfully it was shorter than normal, and I had my other two to keep my mind occupied! 🙂
This year I am super pumped because the dynamics will change again! Our boys are older…8 and 5 so they will both probably do a little ski school…giving Adam and me a little slope date time. And then we will probably have some great family time on the slopes! How much the entire experience has certainly changed from when we were first married….to skiing while four months pregnant…to skiing with these two cuties alongside of us! We are really looking forward to it all.
But with the idea of a ski trip comes all the thoughts of planning it! Since we only go skiing every other year or so, which means these outfits will only fit my boys once…my oldest could possibly pass down his, but we will always be purchasing new gear each time we go! And with that, we never want to break the bank with our purchases! We always try to plan ahead and look for sales!! AND right now is the PERFECT time to buy all of your ski gear for a fraction of the price. If you are like us and you aren’t skiing for a few months still, you might want to consider buying up a size or buying options that have size adjustments. Regardless, this post will have you covered for the entire fam!! Here is what we are packing!
For me
It has definitely been a while since I have bought ski gear so we felt that it was finally time! I really wanted mostly white…..the snow bunny thing was appealing to me this year! Plus, because I don’t purchase new gear every year, I figured this was pretty timeless! While my actual coat sold out before I was able to get this post out, I did grab some other white coats, and if you click on my photo, it sends you to where I bought my ski jacket! So many super reasonably priced options in lots of styles and colors!
for him
My sweet, sweet husband is in the field of financial research…..and therefore he is always researching and reading and analyzing….great for his job…not always great for my patience. 🙂 Soooooo….at the time of this post he is still debating these jackets below! BUT…it might work in your favor because they are each Ah-mazing deals, and they are good quality! 🙂
for the boys
This is probably one of the last years we will be able to do this, but I still match my boys!! And while there might be a slight eye roll or two, it actually comes in handy when in a crowded place like the slopes! You can pretty quickly pick out your kids when they match!
for the girls
While we don’t have girls, Chan does, and I know we have lots of girl mom followers!! So, we didn’t want to leave you out!!
Our gear
Our boys are pretty great travelers, but it is always good to have some great entertainment items! This video game system has over 150 pre-loaded “vintage” games on it! Score! The Walkie Talkies are so we can communicate with our kids if we all get separated. They are supposed to have really great range for mountain use! I love personalized luggage for my kiddos!

I love how you gave ski gear options for everyone- including little girls (even though you only have boys). It was good see how you incorporated everyone. 🙂
Awww…thank you, Komal! Yes…just want to include everyone! 🙂
