I love family time, and I love the holidays! BUT no holiday is more magnificent to me than Easter! Everything is blooming and green, and there is sunshine and rain, and new growth and new promise and new purpose! Everything is new, and Jesus is Risen indeed! Aaaahhhh…can’t you just feel it?!
I hope you and yours enjoyed a lovely Easter! Here is a sneak peek into our celebration!
Easter egg dying is such a joy with children!! There are so many options…crayon, dye, marbled, pastels, sparkles….you name it!
Every good holiday meal begins with a beautiful table and ends with an amazing meal and wonderful company! Ours began with a fun and whimsical tablescape.
I can’t help but use cotton when I decorate. It is in my roots as a Southern girl, and I simply think it is beautiful! Here, I took a vintage vase…actually an antique battery jar….read about them here…. and filled it with only pastel shades of Easter eggs. Then I took my dried cotton and stuck it right in the middle. Fun!…I loved how it turned out. I had these two scraps of gingham…I’m such a gingham girl!…and laid them in a cross pattern to show the significance of the cross at Easter time.
Finally, I finished with my vintage sugar eggs and some moss eggs to top it off! Do you love the vintage feel of the sugar eggs? They are such heirlooms! My friend makes them every Easter! Her grandmother-in-law made them for years, and because of her love for her family and because others missed this art so much, my friend decided to keep the love going! Easter is a time for pulling out your beautiful linens, china, and silver! You don’t have to have the most top dollar pieces, but it is important to make things feel special! I love to have a high-low feel to my table! For this setting, I used my formal china pattern Lenox Autumn. It has always been my favorite pattern as it was the same my mother used and my grandmother, as well! It has shades of blue and green with pops of orange all contained within a thin gold band! So pretty and so cheerful! And you would think that you would need gold silverware, but oh no! Mixing the metals keeps that wonderful approachable feel! I use Gorham Chantilly silverware pieces. Again, this was the same pattern that my mother and grandmother used! Many meals shared with these pieces! My stemware and glassware finish this high-low look with an all-purpose large bell wine glass and ball jar water glasses! Click here for similar blue placemats! Lastly, these napkins! This is a fun and super easy project! My mother-in-law made these! Buy a painter’s drop cloth from your local hardware store. Next, wash it to soften fabric! Finally, fringe or trim the edges, iron, and fold into dinner napkins. So cute and functional! You could even monogram them!!
Do you see those confetti eggs?? Well, what Easter is complete without an egg hunt and confetti war?! Be forewarned….it is super messy, but the joy totally outweighs the mess. And with the next rain and mowing, it will all be gone! 🙂 The hardest thing is removing it from your hair….yikes!!
About that meal….ours was Lamburgers, hamburgers, salad, and fruit! Yum!! Click here for my lamburger recipe!
Happy Easter, y’all!
