Meet Delta!

He’s the newest dog member of the Bronson family…and let’s be honest…the Koko&Chantelle family, too because he will probably be a regular on our feed!!

If you’ve been watching our Instastories, you might have already met our sweet new pup, Delta! He is a Nova Scotia Duck Toller mix, and we rescued him from a wonderful group in East Texas called Toller Rescue, Inc.   The process was a little outside of our wheelhouse….there was an application, a home visit, some chicken wire installation, but it was so, so worth it to bring our sweet boy home!

We had debated for a while adding a puppy to our family! Our first dog, Hayley, is now 17 years old, and we worried how the transition would go….or if we should wait and get a dog after she was no longer in this world. But right after Christmas, I saw on this TRI Facebook Page that they had puppies!! If you’ve ever rescued a dog, it is so very rare to see newborn puppies as an option. We took this as a sign that the time was right. And now our two sweet furbabies (insert my husband’s eye roll at that term! haha!) are best of friends….well, they at least tolerate each other. And Delta is getting better about seeing Hayley as a dog and not a chewtoy! 🙂

We get asked all the time about how we came up with his name….well, in a nutshell he was puppy #4 in the litter! We went through so many name ideas, and then we settled on something to do with the number 4. Enter Google! Haha! Delta is the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet. The Mississippi Delta happens to also be where I grew up. Delta blues is a music genre that I really love, as well! And my sweet husband liked it, too! Maverick and Trigger and Winston were all very much considered, too! 🙂 He is definitely a Delta! My only hold up was how easy it was to call him Delta! Delta! Delta!….it kind of hurt my heart to hear that because I am a Chi Omega alum!! And the application paperwork says TRI – Delta for Toller Rescue Inc.  – Delta….oh well…we can’t always be perfect! Just kidding to my Tri-Delt friends! ;););)

Anyway….we have never had a puppy. Our Hayley came to us at 8 months old crate and potty trained…kind of a dream situation. So, this has been a whole new world of a learning curve. I will say that having a senior dog and bringing a puppy in has been great! They do pretty well together, and we were already doing bathroom duty with our older dog so what’s one more?

We have also had a great time spoiling Delta and finding toys that work best with his chewing habits….I mean….we added another boy to the family….what was I thinking??? It was inevitable that the accessorizing was sure to happen! So, if you know me, you know I love, love, love gingham….all things gingham….oh and monograms! And who doesn’t love a little Etsy shopping? We found the cutest collar and had his name and our address engraved on it! What I love best about this collar is that the name tag is part of the collar clip, and it isn’t a dangle tag. It is quieter than a regular collar….score!! Or maybe not….Delta tends to be pretty stealthy!

He has warmed our hearts and is a darling cute floppy mess of a puppy! Since he is a mix, we have no clue how large he will be, but he has certainly filled our hearts and the joy he has brought is so wonderful!!

We’ve noticed a lot of our friends and followers have recently found their themselves as new pet owners, too, and I wanted to shared all of the fun treats and items that have helped smooth our transition!

have a doggone good time shopping!!
