How to Organize a Caroling Event in Your Neighborhood

I love to sing…and so do my boys! And what better way to get into the holiday spirit by caroling in the neighborhood?! As it was said best in Elf the movie, “The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.” I couldn’t agree more!

So, last year, we got a wild hair and called up a handful of neighbors who called up another handful of neighbors, and an hour later, we had a choir assembled! BUT, you totally need props, music, and costumes, right?!

Thankfully, my older child had brought home come Christmas carols in the form of sheet music….check!

But I feel like you  need bells and Santa hats, too! It just helps create the ambiance, and the kids love them!  After a quick run to the Dollar Store, I was in luck….bells and Santa Hats….check! and check! And then the year after, when we repeated the process, I found all of our supplies on Amazon!

We caroled for about an hour (young children don’t have much more in them!), and then came back to my house for pizza and hot cocoa! Okay….the perfect formula for a Christmas caroling party was born!!

But this year, I wanted to be a little more organized! I emailed a couple of weeks ahead of time to have families mark their calendars, and there was a blurb sent out in our local HOA newsletter. Great! It is all set!

Then, instead of trekking all over town to get props, I went to my trusty computer to order from…..Amazon! 🙂 I’m telling you….if you don’t have Amazon Prime, you are totally missing the mark!  Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial

Also this year, I decided to make a craft out of it for the kids. I ordered bells and pipe cleaners to assemble jingle bell bracelets! And I was super excited to find these candy cane striped pipe cleaners! They are so fun and festive! Two bells per child laced on these pipe cleaners makes a great jingle bell bracelet!! If you need more length for the adults, just twist a couple of pipe cleaners together for an extender!

And the Santa hats!! Aren’t they adorable?!

Lastly, the music is so important! We usually sing 3-4 songs per house….always ending with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas!”

Here is a downloadable/printable version of our music!

After you sing, have everyone over for pizza (maybe a little wine!!) and a crock pot of hot chocolate! It is such a fun and memorable occasion!!

Also, I’ve linked the Santa hats, bells, pipe cleaners, and candles below!

Have a very Merry Christmas!!
