Are you a mom of multiple kids? Kate and I are, and even though they have the same parents, they are so different. I love to appreciate them for who they are, and accept who they are. This is something my parents did for me growing up, and I feel is so important in instilling confidence and self love for them. I want them to know who they are, and own it! Parenting multiple kids that are very different reminds me of when I managed a team at Neiman Marcus, and they were all different. The best thing I could do, was to make sure that I understood who they are. They all respond differently, are motivated by different things, so it was in my best interest to manage them in different ways. It is how we were created….all unique and different. Check out our latest mom chat video and please please please share with us what you do to parent multiple kids! This is truly a community and it takes a village to raise children, so we would love to hear your thoughts!

Love, K&C
I love this mom chat! I have 3 girls and they each have totally different personalities! It is a constant work in progress to meet each of their individual needs. Being a mom is work- challenging and rewarding at the same time. When my oldest (now 12) was 3 we started her in soccer- she sat around picking flowers and never kicked the ball. I knew immediately that sport wasn’t for her, and with practice at 8am and a newborn in tow it wasn’t for me either! We eventually tried many sports as the years went on- basketball, softball, gymnastics, dance. I finally realized she is going to do what she wants to do and the more I sign her up and pressure her (and waste money) the more she is going to resist. She eventually found her way and we understand her unique personality does not include a love for sports. She is more creative and is interested in the arts. It took a while to figure this out, but we are all happier now in this realization. Meanwhile, with my 2nd and 3rd child I was determined not to make the same mistake by signing them up for everything under the sun….and with three kids I no longer had the time to take them to a ton of different activities. Who wants to lug a baby in a carrier and a toddler to a soccer practice? Been there and it’s no walk in the park! I took a different approach with my 2nd and 3rd and only signed them up for things they showed an interest in. For my 2nd that was dance, gymnastics, and lacrosse. For my 3rd it is dance and soccer. Now they are a bit older (12, 10, & 8) and can decide for themselves which sports and activities they want to be in and that can change seasonally (sometimes daily 😉). I found that by not putting pressure on myself to introduce them to everything starting at 3, they eventually fell into a sport they loved and it was self-elected, not mom enforced.
Love this advice! It can be hard deciphering it all, but we love the success story of listening to each child and supporting what seems to come naturally to them! Thank you so much for sharing! IT TAKES A VILLAGE exists for a reason! #thepowerofmoms
