Teachers really pave the way for our children. They not only teach them, they give them confidence. They are our eyes and ears. They are our children’s advocate. They see that different side of our kiddos that we don’t get at home.

As a former teacher, some of the best advice I was ever given was to meet the child where they are. Not necessarily the standard….though those are important, too. But see that child and give them the tools to grow. That can be challenging in large schools or packed schools. Or it can exist in small classes if a teacher’s heart simply isn’t in their work.

But when you get lucky with a teacher, man, it is pure gold! You always remember the special ones. They went out of their way to make you feel special, too! It is a very selfless act to teach and a very hard one, too because you are not only teaching the children, but you are assisting the families with raising the children. You have to be both teacher and parent at times.
